Nesa Pourgholi, born and raised in Tehran, Iran, is an expressive visual storyteller of non-linear narratives. While immersing the audience in a landscape constructed to convey emotional complexity, Nesa simultaneously calls into question the individual perception of a story.  

Currently, she is trapped behind a window, forced to witness only a slow decay and destruction. While caught between stories wielded as weapons, she persistently continues to tell stories of vulnerability. Loss, longing, and anger are the key themes in her work. Her visual language allows emotions to flood the scene as a survival strategy. Their origin, destination, and consequences are never separate from the visual world in which they exist.  

Feelings are so intense that they transcend human boundaries. In Nesa's contemporary fables, they take shape in various media. Painting, costumes, performance, animation, sound, poetry, and film – they intertwine and blend, thus becoming both stage and performer.
